Oil Drilling in Baldwin Hills began in the 1920s before the area was developed. Since that time, hundreds of people have established their lives - and their livelihoods - in the area.

Last October, after a two year drilling moratorium, the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors opened the gates to expand the field by 600 new wells over the next 20 years.

Since that meeting, upset local activist groups, the Natural Resources Defense Council and Culver City have sued Los Angeles County for more environmental reviews before PXP can expand its operations.

This website explores their plight, the need for oil drilling within the United States, and the sights and sounds of the Inglewood Oil Field.
